We search Useppa Island for a possible treasure.  We find an Artifact that is a bone tool possibly dating back to the Calusa Indians.  The GPR locates a large metal object in ground during low tide.

We go back to Coral Creek to locate the actual location of where the Bunkhouse use to sit. This is also the location of where Gasparilla's little brother is supposedly buried. He says that he was found and reburied three times.

The Legend of Peace River Treasure

​The Legend say that when Gasparilla's ship went down, Juan Gomez fled to Lady Boggess's property and buried three treasure chests there. We were told by sources that three men had found one, and the other two still remain buried.

We begin our adventure at Boggess Hole where we believe one of the treasure maps is pointing us to.   The name Lady Boggess appears in the pirate tale when Juan Gomez aka Gasparilla flees from the naval ship.  He pays her hush money to not give his whereabouts.

Why are they there?

Placida Bunk House

​We take a road trip to the Bunk house. It is a historical site and matches up with our timeline. The Bunk house was mentioned in some of the stories, and we think nearby is the treasure trove.

Uncle Vern's Bag of Gold

Gasparilla left 10 of his most trusted men with the treasure chests while he took the rest of the crew in pursuit of the merchant ship. The ten men witnessed the battle with the USS Enterprise from shore. Seeing the Floridablanca go down, then loaded the chests into a longboat and slipped,
unnoticed, up the Peace River to a place called Spanish
Homestead. Spanish Homestead was owned by Lady Boggess. The pirates bribed Lady Boggess with a small part of the treasure, ensuring that she would not divulge their location if the Americans pursued them to the area.

The Treasure of Coral Creek

We go back to Coral Creek to walk the steps from the treasure map.  We find some interesting information that is leading us one step closer to the treasure.

The Treasure Trove Location

We visit Coral Creek location for the second time. This time we metal dectect the area in the late night.
The location is the area that the Pirate Tales and treasure map point us to. Our team has matched up the treasure map to old maps, and we might possibly have located the old house, along with the grave of Juan Gomez's little brother.

Lost Treasure of Panther Key

We visit Panther Key and meet up with Moe.  His Grandfather found Juan Gomez dead.  We locate remains of his home.

Grandpa TM's Home

​We investigate Grandpa TM's Home. Grandpa TM was one of the two that had found the ship. They had found the treasure on the ship, and got reburied. One of the stashes are suppose to be located behind the home.

Chasing Gasparilla

We take the reporter Chris from Tampa Bay Times on the treasure hunt with us.  The locations we show him are the marked tree, the hole, and the camp.

Uncle Vern has told us about a Joe Tangley that had researched the tale, and this location was a main area of interest to him.  
Lady Boggess

This is Lady Boggess's property, and supposedly where Juan Gomez ran off to hide.  He had paid Lady Boggess $300,000 for hush money during the time he fled from Gasparilla's sinking ship.
Indian Trading Post

​This location is adjacent to Lady Boggess's property, and as well as the old railroad.  The Indians use to stash their bags of gold into the clay were they would stay dry and hidden.

We have an interview with Fishin Frank to get some history of the area, and information on some possibly shipwrecks.
The Cabin

The legend says that Juan Gomez had a cabin within the vicinity of Spanish Homestead.  Treasure is said to be buried nearby the cabin.

Big Lagoon

We investigate another area of interest we call The Big Lagoon.
The Cypress Tree

The treasure map from the Boggess's (copper plate) pointed to a huge cypress tree.  This tree is righ in the middle of Lettuce Lake.  We take the reporter from Charlotte Sun with us to investigate.

Following the Wagon Trail

We decided to head back down the wagon trail down to another lagoon with a huge cypress tree next to it.
We find a Marked TREE!

As the story says, we do find a MARKED tree with a roman numeral.  The marking looks like it was done with an axe, and was approximately 10 feet high.
Checking the West Lagoon

This is the location where we locate the MARKED tree!  We followed the old wagon trail down towards the west lagoon.
Small Lagoon

The small lagoon was considered a landmark for popular treasure locations.  We search around the lagoon and surrounding areas.
The Wagon Trail

This wagon trail is no longer there, but we did locate the old railroad.
Where the treasure stories of Peace River begin...

We begin to follow the clues, and search certain areas of interest.
At spot to check the silver bars.

The water being too dark, we could not get any good visuals of the bottom of the river.
We take a closer look to see if can locate the location.
On our way to investigate the silver bars in Peace River.

We go the site we believe to be the trail of silver bars.
Locating what possibly looks like a trail of silver bars which was mentioned in the pirate tale.

The Peace River stories mentions a ship hitting bottom coming into the mouth of the Charlotte Harbor.  Supposedly the ship hit bottom and left a trail of silver bars behind.
Finding proof that another part of the tale to prove it was REAL!

The bridge is part of the Peace River stories we were trying to prove that really existed.
